What this helps you see
Start a recurring report from a clean observation table instead of a formatted worksheet with merged cells. The free example lets you inspect the expected shape before uploading your own file.
Free example data and exact column mapping
The figure uses the downloadable CSV with the exact column mapping below. Public snapshots retain their data notes and transformations. Constructed teaching scenarios are identified in the method notes; they are not customer results. Editorial layouts may combine comparisons from the same records.
The free example contains 12 observations and these columns: Economy, Population (m), Income (USD), Life (years). Keep the header row and preserve one observation per row. The table below shows the first records; the CSV retains the full example.
| Economy | Population (m) | Income (USD) | Life (years) |
|---|---|---|---|
| India | 1438.069596 | 2434.44826340989 | 72.003 |
| China | 1410.71 | 12951.1782397043 | 77.953 |
| USA | 336.755052 | 82586.7847707894 | 78.3853658536585 |
| Indonesia | 281.190067 | 4876.2992959843 | 71.146 |
| Pakistan | 247.504495 | 1360.32417758419 | 67.649 |
| Nigeria | 227.882945 | 2138.76383718757 | 54.462 |
How to use it in Datamon
- Sign in with Google, open a new visualization and choose Chart, Map or Table.
- In Data, paste a header plus observations or choose a CSV, TSV, XLSX or XLS file. Select the intended sheet when the workbook contains several sheets.
- Review detected headers, numeric types, decimal separator and dates against known cells. The current file importer accepts files smaller than 20 MB.
- Keep the original file. Remove decorative titles and repeated subtotals before comparing imported values.

How to read the example
Compare positions and values with the table, then inspect the legend or size encoding where used. A visual pattern is a description of the displayed observations. It does not by itself identify a cause, justify extrapolation, or repair missing data.
Limits and common mistakes
Pasting from Google Sheets is a table transfer, not a live Google Sheets connection. Missing cells should remain distinct from recorded zeros.
What is free and what needs an account?
Reading this guide and downloading its CSV and chart images are free. Datamon currently has no paid checkout or subscription plans in this deployment. Creating and saving an editable visualization requires Google sign-in. Provider-backed AI, cloud analysis, publishing and video depend on configured services; this guide does not promise unlimited free connected services.
Questions before you start
Can I visualize import csv, tsv and excel with a free example?
Yes. The CSV and preview images on this page are free to download. Follow the field mapping and steps above. Sign in to create and save the editable project; connected-service availability is separate.
Can I replace the example with my own data?
Yes. Preserve the observation unit and the required numeric, category or geographic fields. Recompute any derived values, update the unit and source, and compare the output with known rows before sharing.
